The 2024 Irish Landscape Institute (ILI) Design Awards proved to be a memorable and rewarding evening for the team at Austen Landscape Architects. With a spirit of celebration and accomplishment, we were proud to receive highly commended recognition for several outstanding projects that showcase our dedication to innovative and sustainable landscape design.
A transformative project that enhances the accessibility and environmental sustainability of one of Dublin’s most significant urban green spaces. The Dodder Greenway reimagines how natural spaces can be integrated into urban environments, promoting both community well-being and biodiversity.
Templewood represents a harmonious blend of natural and designed landscapes. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating spaces that not only serve functional needs but also reflect the beauty and heritage of their surroundings.
The Candle Community Trust Garden, a collaborative and inclusive design, providing a therapeutic space for local communities. This project was designed with empathy, ensuring that the landscape fosters connection, healing, and social well-being.

We are also thrilled to have partnered with South Dublin County Council (SDCC) on the N81 Landscape Corridor, which was awarded at the ceremony. This collaboration reflects our ability to work alongside public sector teams to enhance transportation corridors while prioritizing environmental sustainability and user experience. The project embodies our ethos of thoughtful, functional design, ensuring that landscapes work seamlessly within the urban fabric.
Our presentation featured the design boards that were submitted for the awards, offering a glimpse into the creativity and technical expertise that went into each project. These visuals highlight the design process, the innovative thinking behind each project, and the careful attention to detail that defines our approach to landscape architecture.
Within our presentations were also two additional projects, Grange Castle West and Green Acre Grange, that received special mentions during the evening. These projects were acknowledged for their unique design approaches and the underlying ethos of sustainability and user-centric development. It is incredibly rewarding to see our work being recognized in this way, reaffirming our commitment to creating landscapes that are both beautiful and purposeful.
The evening was filled with excitement and inspiration, as we mingled with fellow landscape architects, designers, and industry leaders. The buzz of admiration for the wide array of fantastic entries on display reflected the collective passion and talent within the landscape architecture community.
